Is it camping or overlanding? Could it be both?

What’s all the confusion about? No matter how you describe it one is entirely linked to the other. Let’s take a few minutes to talk about it and set the record straight.

The best description for  “Overlanding” is a self-reliant form of travel to remote destinations with the primary goal being the actual journey. It takes many forms and can utilize any form of transportation you choose. The key element you should consider is the capability of the vehicle you plan your journey around. Many families use multiple modes of transportation, throughout the year, and may switch between them frequently. Setting the destination first, followed by the planning of the journey, will dictate which unit they use on any given adventure.

To further understand the difference, camping can be best described as a form of outdoor activity that involves overnight stays away from your home. This can be accomplished with or with out a form of shelter.  There are a multitude of shelters that range from something as simple as a sleeping bag to the comforts of a fully stocked motorhome or travel trailer.

So, are they that different or are they part of the same adventure? We believe they are completely intertwined, and one cannot be accomplished without the other. Now the question becomes, where do you even start? Our philosophy is to let the journey take the lead. Planning will be the key to your success as well as having the right equipment to ensure your family’s safety and setting the stage for adventures that will be remembered for a lifetime.
